Masonic funeral music K. 477

Adagio und fugue in c K. 546

Symphony in g K. 183

Requiem in d for Soli, Choir and Orchestra K. 626

We are in the fortunate position of being able to listen to Mozart’s music played by both period instrument ensembles and by orchestras of our own era. If Mozart himself had to choose between early and modern instruments, Rolando Villazón is convinced he would opt for the modern ones: “For me, the Vienna Philharmonic are one of the best ‘original’ Mozart orchestras, full stop!” Their combination of experience and quality guarantees an incomparable style.

Andrés Orozco-Estrada, a gifted representative of the younger conducters generation, precedes the Requiem – performed by the Wiener Singverein and a succession of glittering soloists – with music full of pathos, heft and drama.
